DFS, Making Expertise Matter

About

About Decision Free Solutions

Decision Free Solutions (DFS) is a framework in organisational science: how an organisation can bring the expertise of its people to bear on what it sets out to achieve.

How it is built

DFS is built deductively. It starts from two first principles: reality is causal, and people perceive its conditions and rules unequally. From these, with precise definitions of decision, expertise and risk, the rest follows by logic: why organisations run the way most of them do, what that costs them and their people, and the conditions under which the expertise they hold is brought to bear. The framework is found rather than invented. It is what the logic produces.

Its claims are of three kinds, and each is tested differently. A definition is tested by how well it fits and what follows from it. A derivation is tested by logic. A prediction is tested by data. Much of the empirical testing is still to be done, and the papers say where.
